Quick summary: We use essential cookies to run the platform (login, security, language preferences) and optional analytics cookies to improve the product. You can control non-essential cookies at any time. We do not use cookies for advertising or sell your browsing data.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) by websites and web applications you visit. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners.
Cookies can be:
- Session cookies: Temporary cookies that exist only during your browser session and are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a set period of time or until you manually delete them.
- First-party cookies: Set directly by Cynventory on the domain you are visiting.
- Third-party cookies: Set by external services embedded in our platform (e.g., analytics providers).
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as web beacons (pixel tags), local storage, and session storage. This policy covers all such technologies collectively.

We categorise the cookies used by Cynventory into four types based on their purpose and the legal basis under which they are placed:

Third-Party Cookies & Services
Some functionality within the platform relies on third-party services that may also set cookies or collect data. Where we use such services, we ensure appropriate data processing agreements are in place.
- Payment Processing: Our payment service provider embeds a secure payment iframe or redirect. During payment, the PSP may set its own cookies for fraud detection (e.g., device fingerprinting) and 3D Secure authentication. These cookies are governed by the PSP's privacy policy and are strictly necessary for secure payment processing. We cannot disable them.
- Email Delivery: Our transactional email provider may include tracking pixels in email notifications to confirm delivery (open tracking). You can disable image loading in your email client to prevent this. We use this data only to ensure emails are delivered successfully, not for advertising.
- Analytics (Optional): Where you have consented to analytics cookies, we may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that anonymises IP addresses and does not build advertising profiles.
- Customer Support Chat: Our support chat widget may set cookies to maintain chat session continuity. These cookies are cleared when you close the chat widget.
We do not embed social media tracking pixels, advertising networks, or retargeting scripts on the Cynventory platform.
Your Consent
In accordance with the EU ePrivacy Directive, GDPR, and applicable national laws (including the UK PECR), we require your prior consent before setting non-essential cookies (functional, analytics) on your device.
When you first visit our website or log in to the platform, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner that allows you to:
- Accept all cookies (including functional and analytics).
- Accept only essential cookies (refuse all non-essential cookies).
- Manage your preferences by category.
Your consent preferences are stored in the sw_cookie_consent cookie for 12 months. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer, or by contacting us.
Consent to cookies is separate from consent to other data processing. Refusing non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to use the platform's core features.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several ways to control and manage cookies:
Within your account settings (Settings → Privacy), you can view and update your cookie consent choices at any time. Changes take effect immediately for new page loads.
All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies stored on your device. You can also configure your browser to block certain categories of cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to the platform.
If you have previously consented to analytics cookies, you can withdraw consent at any time through your cookie preferences panel. Your existing analytics data (which is anonymised) cannot be deleted retroactively, as it is not linked to your identity.
Managing Cookies in Your Browser
You can manage cookies directly through your browser. Below are links to cookie management instructions for common browsers:
Please be aware that restricting cookies may impact the functionality of the Cynventory platform. Blocking session cookies will prevent you from logging in. If you need help, contact our support team.
Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals websites to not track your browsing activity. Currently, there is no universally accepted standard for responding to DNT signals, and we do not modify our cookie practices in response to DNT browser settings.
However, as described in this policy, our use of cookies is limited: we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and you can opt out of analytics cookies through our consent management tools. This means our practices already align with the spirit of DNT for most users.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or our use of cookies. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or an in-platform notice.
If we introduce new categories of cookies that require your consent, we will re-display the cookie consent banner to allow you to update your preferences.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
